What's up with all the verses in the Bible that tell us to have "child-like" faith? What does this mean?
In Mark 10:14-16 Jesus says:
"Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not received the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.
Jesus not only commands us to let the little children come to Him, but He says that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child would receive the Kingdom of God, then its impossible to enter in. So exactly what is He talking about? What does He mean when He tells everyone to receive the Kingdom of God like a little child? Well, first, lets consider the tendencies of little children.
1) Little children trust in things easily.
2) Little children are mostly quicker to forgive.
3) Little children, when hurting, go straight to their parents, or earthly Father.
4) Little children are simplistic. The truth is the truth, evil is evil, Jesus is God's Son. They don't try to use confusing words from a Webster Dictionary to improve the way they put things. They simply say them, plain and true, honestly and sincere.
Since little children trust in things easier than we do, its not hard to understand how a toddler stranded atop a play set will jump into their Daddy's open, waiting arms without a second thought. They trust, they trust, and they trust. Little children have strong faith in their parents, in their Daddy.
This tells us that in order to inherit the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, in order to be saved from our sin that imprisons us and separates us from God, and to have the peace that surpasses all understanding, in order to become Jesus' disciple, one of His followers, we must completely give up our own pride and jump into Jesus Christ's waiting arms. He wants to be our Father, but in order to become His little child, we must trust Him, trust that His payment for our sin paid for it all, and He will hold you close in His warm embrace and breathe LIFE into your soul!
He loves you, and He wants you to trust Him...to give up all your pride and repent from your sin, and to live in the warmth of His arms closing around your heart. Give Him your heart, your all, all your trust, and He'll protect you, and be your Heavenly, Everlasting, Perfect, Holy, Always Worthy and Loving, Father.
Have faith like a baby, and feel His love engulf your entire being....love so vast like the ocean.
